According to author: Lydia Sarfati, who wrote an article in Skin Inc Magazine, titled: Spa and Lifestyle acne Solutions:

"Close to 85% of people will experience some form of acne in their lifetime.1 According to the American Academy of Dermatology, acne is the most common skin disorder in the United States, affecting 40 to 50 million people at some point in the lives.2 Whether in a spa, salon or medical spa setting, treating acne can be one of the most rewarding experiences for an esthetician."

While there are numerous causes of Acne, we just wanted to focus on some natural remedies.

These tips were included in a previous blog post, but we thought it was worth mentioning again.

Tips for Remedying Acne Scars Naturally

Baking Soda Solution

This is a popular method for reducing the appearance of acne scars, due to its removal of clogs and dirt in pores which makes it easier for the skin’s natural oils to promote healing. Simply mix baking soda and water to a paste like consistency and apply to affected areas. Let it sit for about two to three minutes, then rinse with cold water and pat dry.

Lemon Juice Facial

Take a cotton ball and dab the lemon juice onto the skin, then slowly massage the juice in. Leave on for 20 minutes then rinse! The acid in the lemon juice will soften skin and reduce scar appearance.

Egg Whites

Egg whites can be used in a similar manner to the lemon juice. The albumin in the egg whites has qualities that promote healing and reduce scarring.

Tomato Mask

Slice a tomato in half and rub the halves onto the scarred areas. The tomato juices will lighten the scar tissue and also make the skin more elastic and prone to healing. Let this one also sit for 20 minutes before rinsing.

Cucumber Mask

Much like tomatoes, cucumber slices will enhance skin elasticity and also reduce scarring by lowering the swelling of the tissue. Wash your skin and then rub cucumber slices on the affected areas for about 10 minutes. Let the juice sit on the skin for 15 minutes before rinsing.

Honey Rub

Honey smooths the skin and cleans out pores which will promote healing of your acne scars. Clean your face with warm water then pat dry. Rub honey onto the affected areas, and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing again with warm water. Pat dry, then run an ice cube over the scarred areas to close pores.

Tamanu Oil

Our personal go-to for acne scars and many other blemishes is Tamanu Oil! Tamanu oil is a remarkable topical skin healing agent, anti-neuralgic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic and antioxidant properties. Simply apply and massage in. The oil will absorb into the skin and promote healing.
